Creating a New Visual Identity for a Berlin-Based Artist

Working with Ashia Grzesik — also known as Bison Rouge — I redesigned her website and helped refresh her digital presence alongside the launch of her new album. Her artistic world blends classical music with futuristic visuals, and she needed an online identity that could express that unique mix.

The challenge was to create a cohesive platform that captured the soul of her music while improving the overall user experience. The goal: reflect her evolving creative vision, connect more deeply with her audience, and provide a smoother path to discover, experience, and support her work.

Revitalizing the Digital Experience

I guided the full design process, helping shape Bison Rouge’s bold creative vision into an online experience that feels both expressive and easy to navigate. After reviewing the existing site, I identified the need for clearer navigation, updated visuals, and more focused content. Together with the artist, we brainstormed how to showcase her unique connection to electronic music, barefoot performance, and strong feminine energy in a way that felt both expressive and easy to explore.

We started with a brand audit and defined key goals:

  • Clarify her brand message and visual tone

  • Restructure content into user-friendly groups

  • Improve mobile experience and readability

From there, I translated abstract ideas into a cohesive visual system and UX structure — building a digital space that felt soulful, futuristic, and distinctly her.

This creative journey involved brainstorming, organizing, and designing content for the IG page, resulting in unique designs for each post.

Artistic Presence: A New Visual Identity

To redefine Bison Rouge’s visual identity, I started with a creative workshop to explore the essence of her music, story, and presence. Through questions and conversation, we uncovered what made her work unique; barefoot performances and electronic soundscapes and her bold, feminine energy.

These insights became the foundation for a custom visual system built around contrast: classical vs. digital, softness vs. distortion. I developed a modular design approach using bold colors, layered textures, and adaptable layouts, allowing the brand to feel expressive yet structured across formats and platforms.

I crafted the artist’s branding from a blend of ancestral stories and futuristic themes, capturing her connection to the earth and space. I defined her brand with five key attributes: Analog, Ancestral, Futuristic, Electric, and Female Presence.

Inspired by nature and the cosmos, I developed the new visual identity with elements like flowers, mushrooms, stars, and sunsets, all in a color palette that evokes the earth and sky. This branding was designed to resonate deeply with her vision, fostering connections with her audience through storytelling and powerful visual symbolism.

Integrating Insights for a Unified Brand Identity

Using Figma, I prototyped a new site experience focused on clarity, hierarchy, and performance. Pages were restructured for smoother storytelling, faster scanning, and easier actions (like ticketing or media browsing)

Process Highlights

  • Explored visual directions and built a flexible component system
  • Mapped user flows and created low- to mid-fidelity wireframes
  • Defined content structure and basic copy guidelines
  • Developed the full site in Wix, customizing layout and interactions
  • Ran live tests and iterated based on user feedback and performance

The final result is a responsive website and brand system that captures Bison Rouge’s unique tone — strange, striking, and professional. The structure is now easier to manage and extend, and the refreshed visual identity creates instant recognition across platforms.

Throughout the process, I experimented with bold colors and unconventional elements to craft a visually captivating design. Working closely with the client made the project especially rewarding, we built a collaborative, creative flow that helped translate her vision into a digital space that truly resonates with her audience.

Project Challenges & Solutions

The client had a strong vision but no defined identity or structure.
→ I led a quick strategy sprint to clarify tone, brand values, and visual direction before diving into design.

The content had to work across digital, print, and event materials.
→ I built a flexible visual system with consistent type, color, and layout rules that scaled easily across mediums.

→ I used Notion to centralize feedback, kept communication async and clear, and delivered in agile rounds to stay aligned.
