Revitalizing the Digital Presence for Op Vrije Voeten

This project centered on giving a reflexology studio a renewed digital presence that felt calm, professional, and deeply human. The previous website was outdated, visually inconsistent, and unclear in structure — making it difficult for potential clients to understand the services or get a sense of the practitioner’s unique approach.

My goal was to simplify the online experience and create a brand identity that echoed the restorative essence of the practice,  across visuals, copy, and navigation

My role was to lead the visual rebrand, web redesign, and content structure — shaping an experience rooted in care, clarity, and trust. To do so, I first immersed myself in her story: exploring her dual cultural background, her deep knowledge of reflexology, and the personal journey that shaped her practice. From these conversations, I distilled three unique brand directions that reflected her essence and guided the design of the new website.

We started with a mini brand audit and moodboarding session to explore tone, imagery, and emotional cues. From there, we defined a soft, organic, and confident visual direction — including a new color palette, content structure, and messaging flow aligned with the essence of the practice. I then translated these insights into a refreshed visual identity and website redesign that guides visitors calmly and clearly through the service.

The result features modular layouts for better readability, grounding visuals and textures, simplified navigation, and a warmer tone of voice. Clearer CTAs and booking logic also help support user decision-making

Earthly Connections:
This concept ties Mervi’s practice to the grounding elements of nature. Drawing on images of dense forests and earthy textures, it emphasizes the restorative power of connecting with the earth through reflexology.

Echoes from the North:
We crafted a theme that mirrors the serene, cool mountains of her Finnish heritage, infused with the tranquility and simplicity she remembers. This direction showcases clean lines and calm, delicate visuals.

Simplicity in Patterns:
Focused on minimalism, this approach strips back to the essentials, encouraging visitors to rediscover simplicity and listen to their bodies. The layout is clean and focused, designed to support the kind of clarity and inner balance that Mervi encourages.

Embracing Simplicity for Enhanced User Engagement

I explored simplicity in patterns as a guiding brand direction. Through carefully chosen imagery and clear, minimal copy, I highlighted Mervi’s calming presence and expertise. The result is a serene, spacious aesthetic that invites visitors to slow down and feel at ease while exploring the site.

I combined insights from the initial website audit with newly defined brand principles to create a purpose-driven platform that reflects Mervi’s grounded, nurturing approach. The visual system was built using soft pink tones, generous white space, and nature-inspired imagery to evoke calm and trust.

These design choices translated into:

  • A more legible, modular layout that improves readability across devices
  • Visual consistency that reinforces brand recognition and emotional tone
  • Optimized content flow to guide visitors toward booking with ease

Stronger alignment between the practitioner’s values and the user experience

A Harmonious Finale

The result is a responsive, easy-to-manage website and brand system that reflects the unique value of the reflexology practice. The new digital presence makes it easier for users to explore the benefits of reflexology, feel confident in booking, and connect emotionally with the practitioner’s approach.

This project reinforced the power of simplicity in design, and how small changes in voice, rhythm, and visual tone can completely reshape the user experience.

Project Challenges & Solutions

The client wanted a trustworthy feel, but most wellness visuals felt generic.
→ I went for a clean, editorial look using soft tones, elegant typography, and honest portraits.

There was no clear messaging or structure.
→ I helped shape the content strategy and wrote copy alongside design, keeping it simple and user-focused.

The client needed a professional site quickly, without custom dev.
→ I built it directly in WordPress using a lightweight theme to keep things fast, affordable, and scalable.
