Introducing Ailen Staroscinski: Your Guide to Holistic Health on Instagram!

Habitat Soma is an online wellness project by holistic health guide Ailen Staroscinski, focusing on nervous system regulation, breathwork, and emotional education. 

While her vision was clear and powerful, she needed a cohesive Instagram strategy and visual system that could reflect her values — connection, awareness, and softness — while also improving content structure and engagement.

My role here was to lead both the visual content system and content strategy — helping Ailen create a grounded, expressive online presence that reflected her approach to nervous system healing and feminine empowerment.

The first step was to translate her practice into content pillars and core brand themes. We defined keywords and emotional anchors, such as connection, breath, nature, rhythm to guide the visual tone and narrative.

I then developed a modular visual system with:

  • A calming, earthy color palette
  • Texture-based visuals rooted in nature
  • Flexible layouts and templates
  • Grid-based post systems (quotes, carousels, promos)
  • Reusable design elements to support storytelling

We also crafted Instagram storytelling strategies around recurring topics like empowerment, reminders, archetypes, and breathwork, keeping the balance between emotional depth and content clarity.

Starting with a Virgo brand direction, I drew inspiration from neurological connections, the calm colors of nature, and the intricate structure of plant skeletons.

I used delicate yet powerful dendrites to create a minimalistic and impactful visual identity, perfectly aligning with the brand’s holistic and nurturing essence.

Following this, Leo’s brand direction embodied a powerful and cohesive identity centered around empowerment, feminine energy, and holistic wellness.

The color palette created a grounded and warm aesthetic, reflecting natural elements and inner strength. The visuals, combined with simple yet powerful illustrations of women in circles, hand-drawn plants, and delicate line art, reflected themes of community, nature, and personal growth.

Embracing the Leo Essence

This creative journey involved brainstorming, organizing, and designing content for the IG page, resulting in unique designs for each post.

To support content planning, I built a framework for organizing posts, stories, and seasonal series. This included:

  • Visual templates for ongoing categories (quotes, reminders, launches)
  • Guidelines for language tone (warm, poetic, grounded)
  • Suggestions for mixing educational content with community interaction
  • A seasonal calendar with Leo-themed content and energetic alignment

Project Challenges & Solutions

The client wanted to speak openly about mental health without sounding corporate or clinical.
→ I used expressive typography, warm colors, and layered layouts to balance honesty with approachability keeping the tone real but supportive.

Habitat didn’t follow a typical “service model,” making it hard to structure content.
→ I co-defined key content pillars with the client and built a narrative-led layout that explained the mission while guiding user exploration.

The concept evolved during the project, with new ideas added mid-way.
→ I kept the system flexible, shared design updates in stages, and adjusted the layout without losing consistency.
